AAG Wine Specialty Group

The Wine Specialty Group of the Association of American Geographers is a dedicated group of researchers who are interested in the geographical study of grapes and wine. We are composed of geographers from all parts of the discipline.

Look at the papers submitted at the previous year's AAG Annual Meeting and you get an idea of the scope of our research. Physical geographers with interests in landforms, soil and microclimate converse with cultural and economic geographers who look at diffusion and the impact of wine on local economies. Cartographers and remote sensing specialists help us understand the distributions better. All geographers can find a common point of interest in the geography of wine.

The Wine Specialty Group sponsors several paper sessions, panel sessions, and tasting workshops at the AAG Annual Meeting.
All students, professors and applied geographers are invited to become members of the Wine Specialty Group and participate in our activities.
Thank you for your interest.

Percy H. Dougherty, Ph.D.
Past President, AAG Wine Specialty Group
